Call for Presentations:
Teaching With Technology Showcase '09

The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce the second annual Teaching with Technology Showcase, a one-day event held in conjunction with the Technology Fair sponsored by the FSU Computer Store. The Teaching with Technology Showcase will highlight the use of instructional technology and multimedia that supports student learning at The Florida State University.

The showcase will be held on Wednesday, February 11, from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and is open to all faculty, staff, and students.

We invite faculty, librarians, and teaching assistants to share their experiences with instructional technologies that promote student-centered learning.

Suggested Topics

1. Use of social networking and collaboration tools such as Facebook, blogs, wikis, and/or podcasts.


2. Integration of technology to promote higher order thinking such as analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and reflection


3. Student creation and use of simulations, animations, video, or other media-rich learning materials


4. Use of virtual learning environments


5. Integration of technology in large-enrollment courses to facilitate active learning

Presentation Content

Proposals should include the following:

1. What instructional issue was addressed by the integration of technology?
2. Briefly describe how you implemented the new strategy.
3. Briefly describe how this strategy allowed students to construct their own knowledge and master the course objectives.
4. What tips do you have for instructors who want to try the same integration?

Presentation Format

30-minute presentations in small breakout sessions with 10 additional minutes for questions and answers.
